World’s largest vaccine buyer UNICEF, for the first time, has revealed its vaccine price list with the intent to bring down the cost of the vaccines by starting a competition among drug manufacturers.
On its website, UNICEF has disclosed the amount it paid to various drug-makers to purchase 16 vaccines in a 10-year period. The recent step set to bring greater transparency has not been endorsed by western pharmaceutical companies, who in some cases charge more than Indian companies.
