Here's one more reason to add healthy vegetarian food in your platter. According to a new study, regular intake of a vegetarian diet helps patients suffering from kidney disease by preventing the accumulation of toxic levels of phosphorus in their body.

According to researchers, high levels of this mineral can lead to heart disease and prove fatal for patients suffering from Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD).

The study, published in the Dec. 23 issue of the 'Clinical Journal of the American Society Nephrology,' revealed that though medical guidelines recommend low level of phosphorus in the diet of kidney patients, phosphorus content is not mentioned in the food labels.
