Include foods with a good source of iron in your diet regularly and it will help prevent iron deficiency. Iron supplements may be prescribed by doctor, along with a diet high in iron. Iron rich foods are whole grains; liver, Oosters, sardines and shrimp; dried peas and beans; dark green leafy vegetables such as spinach and broccoli; iron-enriched cereals; red meats; dried apricots; prunes and raisins.
